In this video, application engineer Joep Jongen demonstrates the steps for performing a six degrees of freedom alignment between two Gocator laser line profilers using the “Surface Align Wide” tool in GoPxL. For this demonstration we use a so called "reversed wide layout," where two sensors are arranged in a staggered manner, rotated 180 degrees from each other along the Z-angle axis. This kind of layout is often employed to address occlusion problems that may arise when scanning with just one sensor.

In this video, we will explore the process of aligning two opposing Gocator laser line sensors in GoPxL. In an opposite layout we have two sensors facing each other. When their measurement ranges intersect, we can effectively scan an object placed between them. This setup is commonly used for measuring sample thickness. It's worth mentioning that LMI Gocators come already calibrated from the factory, meaning users don't need to worry about calibrating them themselves. But when you're using more than one sensor, making sure they're aligned properly becomes really important. Essentially, alignment ensures that each sensor knows the precise position of the others. This way their individual scan data can be combined.

In this video Michael Fisher, an application engineer, demos the surface plane advanced tool with a Gocator 3000 series snapshot sensor. The surface plane advanced tool is able to automatically calculate a plane that maps onto the 3D scan data.

Shiny machined-metal EV battery cells can present a particular challenge to laser-based quality inspection primarily due to the scatter effect that occurs when incident light hits the surface of a specular target. To address this challenge, LMI has introduced the new High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode in its Remastered Gocator 2600 Series of Smart 3D Laser Profilers. This powerful feature allows you to capture a greater number of data points on the battery surface at fast cycle times for more robust 2D contrast and 3D height inspection.
