The Gocator® family of 3D line confocal imaging (LCI) sensors introduces a powerful new scanning technology to the Gocator® smart sensor product line. These sensors provide high-speed, high-resolution inspection of virtually any challenging material structure such as transparent, highly reflective/mirror-like, multi-layer, and many more.
In addition, these smart 3D line confocal sensors run the Gocator® web-based interface with built-in measurement tools, I/O connectivity, and multi-layer profiling support accelerated using a PC.
Smart UI design consists of a simple, single-page application on a web browser that provides (1) client/server operation that neatly separates the PLC from the user interface view, (2) ubiquitous execution of sensor functions from any web browser regardless of OS, and (3) and support for an Internet-aware network of interconnected and cooperating devices.
A smart sensor can process highly detailed 3D surface scans and communicate decisions onboard without the need for an external controller. With minimal dependencies on external hardware, latency between scan data acquisition and the decision output is minimized––allowing the sensor to keep pace with inline production speeds.
Smart sensors provide a range of built-in measurement algorithms for application-specific tasks, providing the user with maximum ease and control over the inspection process because developing your own custom tools or investing in 3rd party software is not required.
Smart sensors support standard industrial communication protocols to connect with factory networks and devices for reporting results, diagnostics and monitoring, software upgrades, and with other network devices to exchange or combine data.
Line Confocal Imaging technology (LCI) is used for measuring microscopic-scale dimensions and tomographic structures. LCI technology is based on an optical method where white light emitting from the sensor’s transmitter is split into a continuous spectrum of wavelengths. Each wavelength is focused on the measured surface at a distance from the sensor to form a perpendicular focal plane.
