MODULAR 3D SMART SCANNERS FOR WOOD

AND WEB MATERIALS
Gocator 3D Smart Scanners

MULTI-POINT PROFILE SCANNERS

A Flexible System for Transverse Board Scanning

With the Gocator 200 series you can create a modular scanning system that allows you to mix 3D profiles, tracheid detection (wood only), and color vision. Run these systems at up to 300 feet per minute in transverse board scanning applications (edging, trimming, planing), as well as general web scanning applications such as veneer peeling, metal scalping, and textile quality inspection.

Compact Fit

Coplanar Scanning
FOR THE MOST COMPACT AND COMPLETE DESIGN

While line profilers triangulate in the direction of web travel, multi-point scanners triangulate along the length of the material (i.e., multi-points are coplanar). This means they see the rising and falling edge of materials, whereas line profilers may not. Multi-points also use less space on the scanner frame (say 4-6″) than line profilers (typically 2-3′).

Web Roll

High-Speed Profiling
FOR CONTINUOUS SCANNING IN WEB APPLICATIONS

In addition to transverse board scanning, the Gocator 200 series can be used in a variety of web applications such as metals, veneer peeling, and textile manufacturing. In these applications Gocator offers onboard processing and multi-sensor networking capability to build high-definition 3D data models for material optimization.

Stereo Camera

Tracheid Measurement
For Grain Angle and Knot Detection

Gocator 250 scanners are able to detect and measure tracheid effect. When a laser spot is projected onto healthy tracheid wood cells, laser light is scattered into the cells in the direction of cell growth. If the wood fibre is dead (as in a knot), then the laser light does not scatter. This effect can be measured to identify good wood from defective wood and even determine grain angle.

IP67 Shield

Color Vision
FOR SURFACE DEFECT DETECTION

Color vision supports the detection and measurement of surface defects. For wood material, surface defects include knots, splits, and rot, and their size and location is key to grade-based recovery optimization. Lightbars provide the necessary white light to illuminate the material’s surface so that the vision module’s megapixel color cameras can build high resolution color images.
